The Wendy Williams show host, Wendy Williams has given fans an update on her health and assured them that she’s getting herself together so she can make her return to the show.

The television host has been on leave from the daytime show since early September due to several health complications. In mid-September, Williams has been diagnosed with COVID-19, on top of ongoing health complications.

“I’m making progress but it’s just one of those things that’s taking longer than we expected,” the 57-year-old stated in a recent Instagram post.

 

Since taking a leave of absence, this has been the first update that the New Jersey native has given the public. Despite the latest update, Williams hasn’t given an expected return date.

“I’m a woman of a certain age, and I know enough to listen to my doctors and will return to my purple chair as soon as we all agree I’m ready,” says the daytime television host.

The former radio host went on to close out her message to thank everyone that has helped her that aided in her medical leave, including the guest hosts that have temporarily filled in for Williams, and lastly her fans for sending well wishes her way.

“I want to thank all of my staff and our guest hosts for stepping up and stepping in while I can’t be there,” she says. “I also want to thank Debmar-Mercury and our stations for being so understanding and supportive while I work my way back. Most of all, I want to thank my fans. I have heard your prayers and comments and feel the love! You are everything to me. I love spending my mornings with you all and I’m doing everything I can to get back to work, but right now Wendy has to focus on Wendy. I love you for watching.”

During Williams’ absence, several celebrities such as Sherri Shepherd, Leah Remini, and Michael Rappaport have stepped in to fill in for Williams.
