In this week’s episode of What’s Cooking?: Atlanta we are keeping up with the Joneses, Che Burger Jonez that is!
As we head over to the iconic Cleveland Avenue location, our mouths are watering to try the 16th Best Restaurant of 2021, according to Time Out Magazine.
Chef Malik, the owner of Che Burger Jonez gives us the tea of who is responsible for teaching him how to cook.
“Carmelita, that’s my momma. I cook better than your mother. Because my mother got busy,” Chef Malik exclaims.
Ranging from That’s Sh*t Slammin burger, to their famous Grouper Sandwich and Brussel sprouts, Che Burger Jonez’s food has all of Atlanta in a chokehold.
And we are here for it!
When asked why he chose the location of the respected place of business, Chef Malik shared his beliefs of keeping the Swats’ money in the neighborhood.
“I live here. When I get up, I know what our options are. I know it’s a community, we give our money to everybody. You can go to Buckhead and get this. You can go to Main Street, but why not come to the Swats on Cleveland Avenue?” he states.
And we see why Chef Malik and Che Burger Jonez are the people’s champs!
Today we are switching things up as we meet with Chef Lucretia as we get something to drink on.
Chef Lucretia shares where her love of juicing comes from.
“So, I started with green smoothies. And when I started with the green smoothies, which is kale, bananas, and things like that I didn’t like the consistency because I’m a juice person. So, what I did is I started juicing,” she shared.
As her practice continued, she introduced vegetables into her juices. And boy, do they look like nourishment for the soul!
