“✨ pixie dust loading …🧚🏽‍♂️ #PeterPanandWendy,” the 23-year-old actress revealed in an Instagram caption as she shared the groundbreaking news.

Peter Pan & Wendy is based on the 1953 Disney animated classic about a little boy who can’t grow up and enjoys his life of adventure in Neverland.

Fans can anticipate further alterations, and more inclusion throughout the live-action remake, such as the Lost Boys not being “all boys,” as the official trailer hints, in addition to Shahidi being the first Black woman to play Tinker Bell.

“In making Peter Pan & Wendy, we set out to craft a film that honors both the original J.M. Barrie text and Walt Disney’s animated adaptation; we wanted to invigorate our retelling with emotional sincerity, an open heart, and a grand yearning for adventure,” David Lowrey, the film’s director stated.

After sharing the wonderful news online, many fans and fellow celebrities shown their support and excitement under the Grown-ish’s star’s post.

“😍😍😍 amazing,” Winnie Harlow and Vanessa Bryant both commented.

YouTuber Vee Kativhu commented, That’s MY GIRLLLLL!!! Our very own TINKERBELLLLLLLLLL 🧚🏾‍♀️. What a game changer babe!!! So proud.”

“Wait… omg😍😍😍,” Jazmine Sullivan exclaimed.

The live-action remake will star Alexander Molony, as Peter Pan. Ever Anderson will portray the character Wendy, as an Indigenous actress named Alyssa Wapanatâhk will play Tiger Lily.
