Watch out world, Grown-ish just got renewed for a third season! The Freeform original show follows Zoey Johnson, played by Yara Shahidi, as she navigates college life through an interesting millennial lens while exploring social, political and relationship issues most co-eds go through.
Tom Ascheim, president of the network said that along with their other programming, the Black-ish spinoff is right in line with their vision: “At Freeform, our shows are uncompromising and bullish on what’s possible when young adults are empowered to be themselves and share their voice about the things that define them and their generation.”
The young series also stars Trevor Jackson, Francia Raisa, Emily Arlook, Jordan Buhat, Chloe Bailey, Halle Bailey, Luka Sabbat, Deon Cole, and rapper Diggy Simmons joined them in season two. According to Variety, it currently ranks as the No. 1 comedy on cable for women 18-49, and No. 2 cable comedy among women 18-34.
The tight-knit cast seems to have a handle on higher education on and off-air. Check out this Buzzfeed video of them sharing the classes they’d totally have on their schedule:
In the season two trailer, the young stars showed off their skills and paid tribute to one of the greatest throwback shows, A Different World, so there’s no telling what this next season has to offer.
And as for Yara, she’s not slowing down anytime soon. The 18-year-old will be starring in an upcoming immigrant love story drama, The Sun Is Also a Star with Riverdale‘s Charles Melton. Watch the trailer below:
