MC Lyte Files for Divorce From John Wyche After 3 Years of Marriage

MC Lyte is calling it quits! After three years of marriage, Lyte — whose real name is Lana Michelle Moorer — is filing for divorce from Marine Corp veteran and entrepreneur, John Wyche, citing irreconcilable differences.

The couple met on Match.com in August 2016 after Lyte made the first move simply saying, “Hi.” Wyche thought she looked familiar but couldn’t figure out where he knew the hip-hop veteran. It wasn’t until a friend suggested that he Google her, that Wyche realized his new love was the iconic rapper, MC Lyte.

After a year of dating, the couple married in August 2017 in Montego Bay, Jamaica. “It was so beautiful and a fairytale,” Lyte said in an interview with Essence. “I got my king.”

Lyte, who’d kept her romantic life on the hush, even shared the news on social media. “Today marks the blessing fo FOREVER,” she said in a caption under a selfie of the couple.

“A few months into getting to know Lana I knew I wanted this woman as my wife,” Wyche said about their union.

Lyte added, “One day when we’re talking, and I looked into his eyes. It was so much honesty and truth in his eyes. My biggest thing with dating was to be vulnerable. And with him, I could totally let go and be myself.”

It’s unclear if Lyte had a prenuptial agreement before getting married. The pair have no children together.

We’re saddened to hear of the couples divorce but wish them well.
