Disney+ announced a year ago that they would be reviving an old favorite and the time is almost here. The streaming service released the first looks of The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder.
The executive producers from The Proud Family and the revival, Bruce W. Smith and Ralph Farquhar, not only shared pictures of the cast but also revealed what Penny Proud and the gang have been up to since fans last saw them in 2005.
Although not much has changed about the beloved characters — Bobby Proud is still Suga Mama’s favorite, LaCienega Boulevardez and Penny remain frenemies, and Oscar Proud is “more overbearing than ever” — a new character has been added. Voiced by Keke Palmer, Maya Leibowitz-Jenkins is a 14-year-old activist who marches to the beat of her own drum.
Kyla Pratt (Penny Proud), Tommy Davidson (Oscar Proud), Paula Jai Parker (Trudy), Jo Marie Payton (Sugar Mama), and Cedric the Entertainer (Bobby Proud) will all be reprising their voice roles.
Although the show is still in production, Disney+ confirmed that the series will premiere this year.
