H&M USA and Buy From a Black Woman are joining forces again for a new year-long collaboration to further the non-profit’s objection of empowering, educating, and motivating Black Woman business owners and the people who support them!  The retail giant and non-profit formed a partnership last year which has seen major growth and success.

The next phase of the collaboration began with a weekend event in Philadelphia, where over 30 Black Woman Business Owners interacted, networked, and shared their knowledge with other BFABW members. In March, the non-profit will debut “The Living Examples,” a new docuseries spotlighting the accomplishments of its members and demonstrating the network’s enormous influence.

“This last year working with H&M, we have been able to bring to light what it means when you believe in and support communities that support you,” Nikki Porcher, the founder of BFABW stated. “The Black Woman Inspire Tour, The Business Accelerator, The Black Woman Holiday Market, these events helped open the doors wider and we were able to show the world that Black Women Are Here.”

In 2016, Porcher started Buy From a Black Woman, a non-profit organization that connects over 600 Black Woman-owned companies across the United States and provides a community of support with the purpose of helping them thrive.

H&M sponsored events such as the Buy From a Black Woman Inspire Tour and the BFABW Holiday Market, which took place in H&M’s Times Square store from November to December 2021. These events, which saw products from more than 50 Black Woman-owned businesses offered in H&M stores around the country, introduced these Buy From a Black Woman member firms to new clients.

“I’m excited to continue this partnership into 2022 and show why we believe that Black Women are living examples of what is possible, not only when you believe in yourself, but also when you have the support of a community that believes in you. When you support a Black Woman Business Owner, you support a whole community,” Porcher exclaimed.

She continued.

“H&M believes in supporting Black Women.”

H&M USA will continue to support Buy From a Black Woman throughout the year, with a variety of events and support targeted at ensuring the company owners’ growth and success, beginning with a grant of $250,000.

Scheduled to begin this summer, H&M USA will once again sponsor the organization’s Buy From a Black Woman Inspire Tour, highlighting Black Woman-owned companies around the country through H&M USA’s platforms and brick and mortar locations. In the coming months, H&M USA will continue to emphasize business sustainability by supporting the non-profit’s Black Woman Business Accelerator Program.

The 10-week business training course includes a structured online curriculum led by specialists to assist Black Woman Business Owners in the various ways they can grow, as well as funding opportunities. H&M USA will fund qualifying employees who want to join the Buy From a Black Woman online directory, as well as network and highlight the non- profit’s many businesses throughout the year.

Our relationship with Nikki Porcher and the Buy From Black Woman vendors has enabled us to witness the growth of these businesses in ways we could not have imagined,” said Donna Dozier Gordon, H&M USA’s head of inclusion and diversity.

Gordon also said the cooperation embodies the company’s goal of “empowering and generating capacity in the communities in which we live and work.”
