Happy Birthday, Halle Berry! The actress, model, fitness advocate, and always-on-point-fashion slayer turned 54 years old on Friday! Halle Berry has been the object of Black Culture’s affection since her early appearances in Strictly Business (1991) and Boomerang (1992). And, long before her acting days, Ms. Berry was serving face, body, and personality in the beauty pageant world. An Oscar, Emmy, and Golden Globe winner, Berry shines on and off the big screen. And, sis isn’t afraid to use her platform to advocate for Black Hollywood. Remember her acceptance speech when she made history becoming the first Black woman to win an Oscar for her performance in Monster’s Ball (2001)? Although over a decade later, she said — in an interview with Elaine Welteroth for Teen Vogue — that historic win was meaningless. Berry’s climb in Hollywood may not have been an easy one, but she is recognized as one of the highest-paid actresses in the 2000’s, having made appearances in several blockbuster films. And, the Halle Berry demand extends beyond the big screen.
