What’s Black Girl Magic?! Just look at Viola Davis! Sis made the ultimate purchase on her birthday by buying the house where she was born — a place “once inhabited by slaves,” according to TMZ.
She shared the news on social media on Tuesday.
“The above is the house where I was born August 11, 1965,” she tweeted alongside an image of the home. “It is the birthplace of my story. Today on my 55th year of life…I own it…all of it.”
That is Black Girl Magic at it’s finest.
But, the actress, who turns 55-years-old today, has been shining in other areas too. From acting, to community service, and simply showing off her 50+ fab style, she’s shown the world that she’s a boss.
Davis is the first Black actress to achieve a triple crown in acting — winning an Oscar, Emmy, and two Tony Awards.
And, not only does she body big and small screen roles, but Davis is about her community. She started the $30K in 30 Days Project in partnership with the Hunger Is program to raise funds to eradicate hunger in America. Davis also invested in the arts by donating funds to her alma mater, Central Falls High School, for its theater program.
Time magazine named Davis one of the 100 most influential people in the world in 2012 and 2017 but she has been influencing us for decades. From showing up on the red carpet in all her natural-hair glory, to winning awards left and right, Viola Davis has set the bar high, and it doesn’t look like she’ll be coming down anytime soon.
