Bourbon Sweet Potato Mash | Just Eats With Chef JJ

Instructions

Ingredients:

  • 3 Large Yams or Sweet Potatoes, cut into cubes
  • 2 tbsp kosher salt
  • ½ cup Heavy Cream
  • 2 tbsp Maple syrup
  • 1½ tbsp Bourbon
  • ½ tsp Garlic powder
  • ¼ tsp Cumin
  • ½ tsp Cinnamon
  • 2 tbs dark brown sugar

Method:

  1. Place the cubed yams in a large pot of cold water, then add the kosher salt to the water. Bring to a boil and cook until fork-tender, then drain.
  2. Return the yams to the pot or a glass bowl and pour in the heavy cream. Begin mashing until the desired smoothness is reached. Stir in the maple syrup and mix well.
  3. Add the bourbon while the potatoes are still steaming hot. Mix in the garlic powder and the cumin, and mix well.
  4. Next, stir in the cinnamon and mix well. Fold in the dark brown sugar, then continue mixing until all flavors are combined. Serve and enjoy.
  5. **(optional) If you want to add a buttery taste, add 2 tbs of unsalted butter to the hot mashed sweet potatoes and mix well.
