Tomato Stewed Green Beans | Just Eats With Chef JJ

Ingredients
- 2 pounds fresh green beans, trimmed
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 cup chopped Vidalia onion
- 1 tablespoon minced garlic
- 2 cups tomatoes, peeled and chopped, juices retained
- 1 tablespoon light brown sugar
- ½ cup water
- ¼ teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
- ¼ teaspoon Creole or Cajun seasoning, or to taste
- Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
Method:
- Trim the ends off and cut green beans into halves, cutting on the diagonal; set aside.
- Heat the olive oil and butter in a large skillet that fits a lid over medium-high heat.
- Sauté the onion until tender, add the garlic, and cook for another minute.
- Add the tomatoes with their juices and the brown sugar, and cook until the tomatoes are softened, about 3 to 4 minutes.
- Add the green beans and water, bring to a boil, reduce the heat to medium, cover, and cook for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the beans reach desired tenderness, stirring occasionally.
- Season with Italian seasoning, Cajun seasoning, salt, and pepper; taste and adjust. Serve immediately.
