Beyoncé and Jay Z love to send social messages. And instead of sending press releases or uploading videos on social media, the two prefer to take a more subtle approach. They donate privately, bail people out of jail, and work on behalf of people who are unfairly incarcerated or detained like Meek Mill and 21 Savage.

Recently, in accepting their Brit Award for their most recent collaborative album Everything is Love, the two sent a video in their absence. Their positioning was reminiscent of their poses for the “Apeshit” video, when the couple stood in front of the famous Mona Lisa. But in this video, the icon portrait had been replaced with an image of Black British Duchess Meghan Markle.

There are many who speculate that the allegiance to the Duchess was not only a pro-Black statement. It was a direct attack of the British tabloids who have spread racist and hypercritical stories about Markle.

Check out the video of the couple below and what people had to say about the subtle statement on the following pages.

On her Instagram page, Beyoncé sent a message to Markle.

Don’t you just love these two?
