One of the “darkest of days,” Chrissy Teigen captioned in a social media post after the loss of her baby boy. She and her husband, singer John Legend, lost their child on Wednesday after suffering pregnancy complications.

Teigen was hospitalized on September 29 after experiencing excessive bleeding. She posted the tragic news of their loss on social media.

“We are shocked and in the kind of deep pain you only hear about, the kind of pain we’ve never felt before,” the model and cookbook author captioned in a post. “We were never able to stop the bleeding and give our baby the fluids he needed, despite bags and bags of blood transfusion. It just wasn’t enough.”

Any mother’s worst nightmare, naturally, Teigen was devasted. “Driving home from the hospital with no baby,” she tweeted. “How can this be real.”

Legend added, “We love you, Jack.”

Celebrity friends offered their condolences and support to the family.

Their baby boy, who they were planning to name Jack, would’ve made number three for the couple who share a daughter Luna (4-years-old), and a son Miles (2-years-old).

The couple surprised fans in August when they announced that they were expecting a child in John Legend’s music video, Wild. Watch the full video here:
