Instructions
Ingredients:
- 1 pound Sicilian pizza, dough (homemade or store-bought)
- 1 cup homemade tomato sauce or store bought tomato sauce
- ½ cup sliced mushrooms
- ¼ cup sliced jalapeños (adjust according to your spice preference
- ¼ cup anchovy
- 3-4 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella and Monterey Jack cheese
- 1 teaspoon of dried oregano
- 4 Tbsp Olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Hot honey for final drizzle
- Chopped basil for garnish
-
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Lightly oil a baking sheet or a Sicilian pizza pan. Roll out the pizza dough to fit the size of your pan. Press it into the pan evenly, making sure it reaches the edges.
-
In a small saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute. Remove from heat and set aside. Spread the tomato sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
-
Sprinkle the dried oregano, shredded mozzarella, and Monterey jack cheese over the sauce. Arrange the sliced mushrooms, jalapeños, and anchovy over the cheese. Drizzle a little olive oil over the toppings and season with salt and pepper to taste.
-
Bake the pizza in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly and melted. Once done, remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before slicing in even squares and serving.
-
Drizzle with hot honey, if desired. Top with fresh basil for garnish
