Hello, Mrs. Betts! Actress and comedian Niecy Nash stunned fans with a surprise wedding to her longtime friend and singer Jessica Betts. She introduced the world to her new wife via a social media post on Monday (August 31).
“Mrs. Carol Denise Betts #LoveWins,” she captioned with a photo of the two.
She also shared this image of the couple on her Instagram stories with a caption over the image saying, “#PlotTwist.”

So, who is the new lady in Nash’s life? And, what’s the plot twist?
Well, for one, there’s Nash’s decision to come out publicly. The news comes nearly a year after her divorce from husband Jay Tucker.

And, while her nuptials to Betts may come as a surprise to her fans, Nash and Betts have known each other for years. The two have shared videos and photos of each other on social media as far back as 2016. In a video post of the Claws actress, Betts thanked Nash for being “such an inspiration.”
And, in 2018, Nash posted a video of herself in a wedding dress alongside a serenading Betts. Although fans speculated that the singer performed at Nash’s second wedding to Jay Tucker, the video filmed on the set of Claws. Nash was wearing the wedding gown because her character, Desna Simms, got married during the season two finale.
Betts also shared this fun video of the two in 2018.
And, then there was this. Betts posted a provocative image of Nash on her Instagram page in 2020. The caption read, “Happy Birthday to a Real One @niecynash #Nicenails.”
Betts has been in the music industry as early as 2012, and regularly posts images and videos about her music, often using the hashtag “LLCoolJess.” She posted a throwback image of her on the set of 106 & Park with Terrance J.
She also has a connection to Love & Hip Hop NY stars Yandy Smith and Kimbella James. In an Instagram post of Yandy’s wedding, Betts shared that she she sang during the celebration.
And, then there’s this image she shared with Kimbella.

Nash first married Don Nash, an ordained minister, in 1994. The couple was married for 13 years before divorcing in 2007. They share three children together. Nash tied the knot again in 2011 with Jay Tucker, an electrical engineer. In October 2019, the pair announced their divorce.
This will be Niecy Nash’s third marriage. Congratulations to the newlyweds!
