Jernard’s Famous BBQ Beans

Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 pound 80% lean ground beef
- 1/2 pound of cooked Thick cut beef brisket chunks or Diced Ham
- 1 red bell pepper, diced
- 1 yellow bell pepper, diced
- 2 scallions, sliced
- 2 (20-ounce) Bush's Bake Beans
- 1⁄2 cup your favorite sugar free barbecue sauce*
- SUGAR FREE BBQ SAUCE
- 16-ounce Cherry Coke ZERO
- 1 29.5 ounce bottle Sugar Free Ketchup
- 1 cup canned tomato sauce
- 3 tablespoons chipotle in Adobo sauce, finely chopped
- 3 tablespoon Apple Cider Vinegar
- 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 2 teaspoons garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon Chipotle powder
- 1 teaspoon liquid smoke
Instructions
- Heat the oil in a large, heavy-bottomed pot or Dutch oven over medium- high heat. Add the ground beef and cook, breaking up the meat with a wooden spoon, until the beef is browned and cooked through, 4–6 minutes. Pour off the grease and return the pot to the heat.
- Add the bell peppers, scallions, and garlic and cook, stirring occasionally, until the vegetables are softened, about 5 minutes and beef brisket or Diced ham sauté 1 minute.
- Add the beans, maple syrup, brown sugar and barbecue sauce mix well. Cover the pot, reduce the heat to low, and cook until the sauce has thickened, 15–20 minutes.
- Place all the ingredients into a 2-quart saucepan and cook, slowly over medium heat until reduced by half, about 30 minutes.
